Will Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) cure COVID-19?

Miracle Mineral Solution, Miracle Mineral Supplement (MMS) also known as Chlorine Dioxide (CD) Protocol, and Water Purification Solution (WPS) are the same products. Some distributors and manufacturers claim that the content of MMS includes antibiotic, antiviral, and antibacterial liquid with mixture of citric acid as a treatment for autism, cancer, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, flu and other diseases.

This is a false and dangerous claim and since 2010, the FDA has issued a warning to consumers regarding the harm of MMS. However, many independent distributors still continue to advertise them on social media and sell them online. Therefore, given the present COVID-19 pandemic, we must emphasise once more that the Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) does not cure COVID-19 and has not been authorised by the FDA for any healthcare uses.

Why The Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) Is Harmful?

Multiple unauthorized websites describe the Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) as a liquid containing 28% sodium chlorite in distilled water. Before consuming, this sodium chlorite solution should be mixed with a citric acid, such as lemon or lime juice, or another acid, according to the product instructions.

However, in many cases, the sodium chlorite is offered in association with the citric acid as an “activator”. Hence, when the acid is added to the mixture, another chemical chlorine dioxide, a strong bleaching agent, is formed.

The sodium chlorite and chlorine dioxide are primary chemicals in disinfectants that have been widely used in the industrial field. They are not intended to be consumed by humans for disinfection effects. In other words, consuming MMS has no difference than drinking bleach.

What Are The Effects or Consequences Of Consuming MMS?

Consumption of any chlorine dioxide products may lead to nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and severe dehydration symptoms. According to certain product labels, vomiting and diarrhoea are common effects after using the products. They even claim that such reactions are proof that the product is effective. This assertion is definitely untrue.

Furthermore, the more concentrated the substance, the more intense the effects and responses. The FDA has received multiple complaints of consumers experiencing severe vomiting, diarrhoea, life-threatening low blood pressure due to dehydration, and even acute liver failure after consuming these products. If you ever experienced any of these adverse responses after using the goods, please get medical attention and help as soon as possible.

Conclusion

False claims and rumors may be dangerous and afflict your health before COVID infection. The best prevention methods of COVID-19 remain at following the SOPs and receive your Covid-19 vaccine as per schedule. Various Covid-19 vaccinations that have been authorised by the FDA and the MMA are widely accessible across Malaysia, such as Pfizer‐BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinovac (CoronaVac), Oxford-AstraZeneca (ChAdOx1-S), Janssen (Ad26.COV2-S), and CanSinoBio (Convidecia). These manufacturers’ vaccines have been scientifically proven to be effective and generally safe for all. As a responsible citizen in Malaysia, we should fully cooperate with the Ministry of Health by attending the COVID immunisation appointment and receiving their vaccines respectively.

There is no evidence that the Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) is safe or effective for treating any condition, according to the FDA. Using these goods may cause you to have negative effects on the other proven safe and effective treatment plan. The FDA’s MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program also encourages health care providers and patients to report adverse events or side effects associated with the use of the Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS). Preventing further misuses and false information from these products.
